The American Idol Season 7 winner David Cook is now single, and ready to mingle after breaking up with her long time girlfriend Kimberly Caldwell.

"They didn't want to make a big deal about it," another insider says of the pair, who started dating in June after Cook, 26, asked out the Season 2 contestant while she was interviewing him on TV.

The reason for the split?

"He has a lot of options and wants to explore them," the pal tells Us. "He doesn’t want to be tied down."- according to UsMagazine news.

Kimberly Caldwell is one of the Finalist of American Idol Season 2 finishing 7th place.
