Unfortunately, Judy Ann Santos' Ploning didn't make it to the final cut for nominees for Best Foreign Language Film category for Oscars. According to the article of Susan King in The Envelope website (click here to read), Nine films from a total of 65 will advance to the semifinals.
The nine films are Austria's Revanche, Canada's Necessity of Life, France's The Class, Germany's The Baader Meinhoft Complex, Japan's Departure, Mexico's Tear this Heart Out, Sweden's Everlasting Moment, Turkey's Three Monkey, and the 66th Golden Globe Award winner Waltz with Bashir of Israel.
The nine films will forward to the next level of sceenings and will be trimmed to 5, as the final nominees. The announcement of final nominees will be on January 22, 2009.
