San Diego, USA - Another fan collectible is soon to dominate the shelves of bookstores as Carlsbad Company, maker of Upper Deck cards unleashes the American Idol trading cards! We are not sure if it includes super power points and special abilities but the fans will surely enjoy the photos and added informations in every card.
The 138 collectible sets will include present and previous 'notable contestants' of American Idol franchise. Some of the previous contestants mentioned were Kelly Clarkson, David Cook, David Archuleta and even William Hung! For those forgetful fans, William was the 'hopeful' who sang the phenomenal "She Bangs" [dorky]. Judges Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, Kara Dioguardi and Simon Cowell also have their own cards. And of course, Ryan Seacrest also has one.
"I know a lot of people out there are fans of like all of the contestants, past contestants. So, we decided to put everything in one pack. And they can have their Idol close to them." says Ana Pereira of Upper Deck. "It starts with the design pace, then several weeks coming up with textures and patterns, approaches for each of the card designs and then we select photography, or they [American Idol] provide photography and then we enhance it in any way that we can." says Upper Deck tech staff.
A pack with five cards inside costs $1.99, and with randomly selected characters. The release of the American Idol cards will be on April 21, 2009.
