Los Angeles, California - Online shopping site Amazon deleted the sales rank of some gay books according to reports. The issue started when writer Mark R. Probst posted the "follies" on his blog site, he discovered that Amazon deleted the sales rank of his two gay books. According to Probst, "As I am a publisher and have an Amazon Advantage account through which I supply Amazon with my books, I had a special way to contact them."
A very surprising reply was made by Amazon, and according to Probst, the site representative emailed him back with the message,
"In consideration of our entire customer base, we exclude "adult" material from appearing in some searches and best seller lists. Since these lists are generated using sales ranks, adult materials must also be excluded from that feature. Hence, if you have further questions, kindly write back to us. Best regards, Ashlyn D / Member Services / Amazon.com Advantage." After some negative response were made by readers of LGBT books, Amazon issued a statement, "We recently discovered a glitch to our Amazon sales rank feature that is in the process of being fixed. We're working to correct the problem as quickly as possible." The issue became a hot topic after Twitter site tagged the topic as one of the "hottest trending" with a hash tag "#Amazonfail".
