Robert Pattinson in talks for Spider-Man role? UK's Mirror is reporting that Robert Pattinson - star of the popular vampire franchise 'Twilight' is now in talks with Sony to star in the revamped story of the popular comic book superhero replacing Tobey Maguire. A source of the website revealed: "The buzz in Hollywood is all about R-Patz as the hot, young thing being lined up to fill Tobey Maguire's shoes. It would be a hard act to follow as fans were traumatized at the news Toby was going."
Mirror's source also added that Kristen Stewart's rumored boyfriend will compete with Jake Gyllenhaal for the role of the ordinary student turned web superhero. The source said: "It's a dream part. But Rob might have to get his fangs out to secure the role, as Jake Gyllenhaal is a strong contender." The new story of Spider-Man - expected to hit the cinemas in 2012 - will see Peter Parker (Spider-Man's alter ego) back at school with new cast members and director.
But according to E News' insider, the casting of the new Spidey film will only begin after a director is chosen. The insider said: "Casting will only begin after a director is chosen. That has not happened yet. Sounds more like an optimistic float by a manager or agent who has nothing to lose by throwing a name into the mix." If Robert Pattinson will bag the Spider-Man role, who fits the role of Mary Jane? (Kristen Stewart of course). Photos: Fame Pictures
