The 'Golden Girl' is just what the doctor ordered to inject life into a 35 year old comedy show.
Betty White, 88, who boasts of six Emmy Awards in a span of more than 70 years in show business plus an improbable Facebook campaign, has boosted ratings of 'Saturday Night Live' ever since she was given a shot at hosting the 35 year old comedy show.
With her on the mic, the show's ratings had soared to it's highest yet within a year and a half, according to Nielsen figures provided by NBC.
White, backed up by countless 'SNL' fans to take on the hosting job, felt so much at home on the show, playfully displaying comic wit distinct from other generations. Her favorite portrayals were of a naughty muffin mogul and a slightly nutty census interviewee.
In the Mother's Day-themed episode, past cast members were reunited, such as Molly Shannon, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch and Ans Gasteyer. In a seemingly rare occasion, the usual all-male 'SNL' cast took a back seat to its women.
The musical guest was music mogul Jay-z.
White, also popular in the popular TV sitcom, 'Golden Girls,' proceeded with hosting the show after an all out Facebook campaign, and was also a trending topic on Twitter, earned adoration and respect from fans including the young ones like singer Justin Beiber, who shouted out on Twitter: 'Betty White Rules.'
Bubbly and adorable, that's my lady!
