Chely Wright finally decides to come out of the closet after years of hiding.
Wright, 39, announces her true sexuality on People Magazine, after years of having concealed it for her music career's sake.
"Nothing in my life has been more magical than the moment i decided to come out," the country singing sensation says.
The musician, responsible for hits like 'Shut Up and Drive' and 'Single White Female' has disclosed to the popular magazine that she is as gay as she prepares to release her memoir entitled 'Like Me,' and a new album, 'Lifted off the Ground.'
And even though Wright had declared she was the first country music artist to expose her true 'gender,' K.d. Lang, who started off her career as a country artist, came out in the early 90's during an interview with The Advocate Magazine.
Wright remains however, the latest entertainer to reveal her sexuality after years of being plagued with fears that coming out would mean disaster for her career.
Recently, Latino star Ricky Martin shed light on his homosexuality and also suffered the same ordeal as Wright. People close to Martin advised him that going public would mean that all the years he's worked and built will collapse. This prompted the ex 'Menudo' star to carry on with his life in utmost secrecy.
So come out of hiding people. Set yourselves free!
