Larry shocked many people with his recent confirmation of repots that he will be leaving his hosting gig on CNN after 25 years on air with them. Now the big question is who will be taking over the TV host icons job at CNN?

CNN's broadcasting legend Larry King, will call it quits after more than 2 decades and 50,000 interviews.

The larger- han-life TV interviewer, made an announcement on his Twitter account that he plans to give up hosting his prime time CNN show sometime this year, tobe able to spend quality time with his wife and kids.

The 76-year-old broadcaster recalls his experience 25 years ago on CNN for the first broadcast of Larry King Live, when he sat across a table from New York Governor Mario Cuomo. Decades later, would be an entirely different scenario for the news icon, revealing to the CNN family that he plans to quit the popular evening show which had countless viewers glued to their seats throughout its running.

King, with his trademark suspenders and large glasses, and whose show recently made the Guiness Book of World Rcords for longest running show with the same host in the same time slot, feels a sense of freedom that comes with his decision. The CNN legend plans to expand and explore other opportunities, which he wasn't able to do.

The decision was sparked by months of media speculation about his future, with a surprising decline in his ratings. His show which once held on to top spot, would come in fourth among other talk shows during the 9 p.m. time slot.

Yet despite his grand exit, King would still be connected with CNN, and will continue to contribute with periodic specials, according to Jon Klein, president of CNNUS.

And when asked who would be a potential replacement, King cited 'American Idol' host Ryan Seacrest, who he describes as 'curious, interesting and likable.'

The news icon has interviewed them all, ranging from various celebrities to politicians. Among those big names were, Marlon Brando, Paul McCartney, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Luther King Jr., Madonna and L. Ron Hubbard. King reveals that Mandela was the most extraordinary person he has met.

Despite being tangled in a highly publicized scuffle with eigth wife Shawn Southwick-King leading to a divorce, the couple would soon reconcile.

Tom Johnson, who was previously CNN's chairman for more than a decade once said, "Only God failed to show up for a Larry King interview."

Sir, I salute you and give my two thumbs up, including toes. Good luck to your new endeavors!
