New York City - Cynthia Nixon announced her engagement to girlfriend Christine Marinoni at a Sunday rally in New York to support same-sex marriage, reports Access Hollywood.

The actress, known for her role as Miranda Hobbs in the hit series "Sex and the City", made the announcement yesterday at a gay marriage rally in New York. The 43-year-old was pictured wearing an engagement ring at the event, which she attended along her co-star Kristin Davis.

Nixon and Marinoni began dating in 2004, following the actress's 2003 split from her companion of 16 years, photographer Danny Mozes, with whom she has two children.
