Barbara Walters, television legend, is scheduled to undergo heart valve surgery this week.

Walters, 80, had announced on Monday that she will undergo a surgical procedure to replace a faulty heart valve and take a summer vacation from ABC's 'The View,' during her recovery stages. She had been aware of the condition for quite some time, and the sooner the better to have the surgery performed.

The legend also mentioned that her condition would seem a surprise to several friends, although she prefers not tackling the subject too much in advance.

Walters however, had not encountered any symptoms leading to her condition, which is a narrowing of the heart valve, which may prevent blood flow to the heart.

Even Whoopi Goldberg, her co-host on 'The View' had asked Walters if she was scared of the operation, to which the latter stated that nobody would want to be in her shoes yet, it has become more commonplace and safetly done.
