A life spared for cancer stricken citizens. What could be more fulfilling than seeing the smiles on those faces who almost threw their hopes down the drain?
Gratitude goes to fundraisers for cancer research who make this possible, and continue to open doors for noble movements dedicated to such cause. Let's give special mention to 'Relay for life.'
Relay for life happens to be a national fundraiser, which aims to battle cancer through the sponsorship of the American Cancer Society. Participants consisted of cancer survivors who share testimonies on their personal triumphs over the said desease as well as tragedies, combining their efforts to fight cancer.
The organization's co-chairwoman Jamie Gottron, was also there to join a multitude of those engaged in the survivor's walk along the park, those who were celebrating an inspiring 425 birthdays because of the life-saving efforts of cancer research and prevention.
Gottron has predicted to raise around $165,000 during the momentous occassion, which is backed up by a total of forty two teams with the sole purpose of achieving that goal.
The Relay for Life event will carry on through Saturday morning, with attention-grabbers such as a silent auction, a carnival and Locks of Love.
Spread out along the park are inviting food stands, featuring various delicacies ranging from homemade pies, perch sandwiches and tacos.
And for the children, a carnival running from 9 to 11 a.m. is sure to catch their fancy, featuring games, inflatables and face paintings.
Hetrick, the chairman, hopes to hold the event annually, and reveals his goal in raising around $750 to $1,000.
