Boasting of a towering 7'6 frame and an enormous wingspan that kept the opposition out of the paint, the Sudanese sensation would swat away those shots like flies almost at will. That time, he almost resembled a huge black mantis running around on the basketball court.
But his NBA career, which gave Manute a good 10 seasons playing for four different teams, would be also used to benefit his war-afflicted nation, where countless families were in starvation.
The former Golden State Center, who was Cris Mullin's teammate and close buddy, gave it his all to aiding troubled Sudan, also taking part in fund raising events, even going to the extent of putting on those gloves in a televised boxing match.
Even when his NBA earnings would slowly fade because of his compassionate support to his country, the Sudanese had absolutely no regrets, for it would rescue his people in times of dire need.
"I don't like war," was that memorable quote of his.
Your heroic acts on and off court will be always be remembered, Manute.
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart In A New Summit Movie?
Remember our post (Read it here) two months ago, talking about Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in a new movie based on a step-by-step guide book written by John Gray?
Well, new reports surfaced on the internet today, claiming that there are rumours circulating the web that Rob and Kristen might do 'Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus'!
After Summit acquired the rights of the said book, speculations surfaced (including our famous Kristen Stewart "in a romantic comedy" idea) on the web about Summit's plans for the book, either a movie, or as a TV show.
But looks like the company behind the already-iconic 'Twilight Saga' is ready to give Robsten a new thing to work to outside the franchise, well, 50% false.
A source of E Online revealed: "We do have the rights to the film, but we haven't even started the casting process. In fact, I don't think there is even a script yet."
Fans need a lot of crossed fingers.
