Inception: An Oscar Nomination For Best Picture?
Article by: Rumer Certeza

Pinch yourself to see if you're awake! At least if you're going to watch the most hyped about 'dream flick' of the summer from his creative majesty, Christopher Nolan and featuring Titanic actor, Leonardo DiCaprio.

You're right there! 'Inception' is already becoming a hit with movie audiences, not to mention film critics. The next thought comes to mind, The Oscars. Possible?

A-list Director Christopher Nolan drew in mixed reactions from academy members with the colossal hero hit, 'The Dark Knight' (I salute you for this one, Chris and Heath) from last year. While the film was nominated for eight Oscars, bagging two, including best supporting actor for the late Heath Ledger, it still failed to make the best picture category. It comes to no surprise over the academy's decision to increase the number of best picture nominees to 10.

At the review site Metacritic, 'Inception' scores a 76. The film is also described by the L.A. Times as "A tremendously exciting science-fiction thriller that's as disturbing as it sounds. This is a popular entertainment with a knockout punch so intense and unnerving it'll have you worrying if it's safe to close your eyes at night." Sounds like Freddy Kruger.

As for USA Today, 'Inception' scores as well, but not overwhelmingly. According to the newspaper, "The film is easy to admire than to fully grasp or be moved by it. Still it's worth surrendering to the dream."

New York Times doesn't actually share the same enthusiasm, though. "Though there is a lot to see in 'Inception,' there is nothing that counts as genuine vision." The paper goes on to describe Nolan's idea of the mind as "too literal, too logical, too rule-bound to allow the full measure of madness."

Well, you can't please everybody, Chris. But you deserve a pat on the back plus a standing ovation. Keep it up, buddy!
