I wouldn't lie about my drinking history - I just am not habitually into alcohol. I did, however, become a little worried after learning that the risk of developing an ischemic stroke doubles after consuming alcohol.

The study, lead by Elizabeth Mostofsky, a doctoral candidate at the Harvard School of Public Health, was conducted by interviewing 390 ischemic stroke patients within 3 days after their stroke. Ischemic strokes are the most common type of strokes which occur when blood supply to the brain is cut of due to some blood clot. Their interview focused on their drinking patterns. Results were published online in Stroke: Journal of the American Heart Assn.
Furthermore, results revealed that the risk was the same regardless of the type of alcohol, which is pretty much good news... for my friends who drink.
