Fangs and furballs! I knew this was coming. 'Eclipse' skyrockets to the top spot but 'New Moon' still overshines!
Awooooo! Does that make for a good howling? Anyways, as expected, 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse', the third installment in the famous bloodsucking franchise raked in the green at numero uno, totalling $82.5 million during the four day weekend, bringing its six day total to $175.3 million.
So if estimates are correct, the tally still falls $4 million short of the $179 million gross by New Moon last November in a six day period.
Yet, Eclipse still triumphs with the midnight box office record of $30 million, previously owned by New Moon yet quickly lost steam over the weekend.
A surprise second despite bad reviews is 'The Last Airbender' with $53.1 million over the weekend, and an accumulated total of $70.5 million since its Thursday release.
'Toy Story 3' falls to third place with $42.2 million after holding on to top spot for 2 weeks. It boasts of a whopping total of $301 million, which makes the animated flick the third biggest movie of 2010, behind 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Iron Man 2' with $334 and $308 million respectively.
They'be been going at it for centuries. You bloodsuckers and howlers should just kiss and make up! But then, there wouldn't be box office records.
I could see those dollar signs in Robert Pattinson's eyes and the gang!
