He's got the live Barbie collection, he's got the moves, and he's still ace on the top earner's list!
Righty. Tiger Woods, plagued with the colossal controversy and divorce woes, still manages to hang on to numbero uno on the top ten list of the U.S. richest athletes. And not to mention a downward trend in his income!
According to Sports Illustrated, the womanizing wonder's endorsement income took a $22 million plunge since widespread allegations of his 'sexcapades' surfaced in public. Ouch. That surely ain't peanuts, buddy!
Exactly. If Tiger's damsels called it history, so did mega endorsers such as Accenture Plc, AT&T Inc., Procter and Gamble Co.'s Gillete razors, and PepsiCo Inc's Gatorade, who put an end to their once fruitful affair with the ace. All that green flapping its wings like crazy, huh?
It seemed just like yesterday when the champ was worth $92 million worth of endorsements, reveals Sports Illustrated. And prior to his reputation getting smothered, Tiger bagged six tournament victories worth 10.5 million last year, his third best season since making his pro debut back in 1996. Don't forget the $10 million bonus for the year long FedEx Cup title.
To round off the top ten, we have the following top earners in the U.S.:
2. Phil Mickelson - $61.6 million
3. Floyd Mayweather - $60 million
4. LeBron James - $45.8 million
5. Alex Rodriguez - $37 million
6. Shaquille O'Neal - $36 million
7. Kobe Bryant - $33 million
8. Derek Jeter - $31 million
9. Peyton Manning - $30.8 million
10. Dwyane Wade - $27.8 million
For top non-U.S. earning athletes, Tennis champ Roger Federer leads the pack with $61.8 million, followed by soccer stars Lionel Messi ($44 million), David Beckham ($40.5 million), and Christiano Ronaldo ($40 million) and boxing champ Manny Pacquiao with $38 million.
Whoah. Suddenly my head's spinning from all them numbers!
