The actor's death was due to a serious lung injury called diffuse alveolar damage, that can be caused by a number of factors.
Pneumonia and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (a condition where heart muscles become so strong they hinder the heart's ability to pump blood) and coronary arterioscerosis (the thickening of artery walls) were listed as among the causes.
Associated Press discloses that there were traces of marijuana in the actor's system, including over the counter and prescription drugs however, they were not listed as contributing factors, according to toxicology reports.
Haim had already been suffering form pneumonia at the time of his death, in which he passed away on March 11 at a young age of 38.
