Forbes magazine reports that Oprah Winfrey has did it again, grabbing top spot as the most powerful celebrity alive, edging out tough competition Angelina Jolie.
And if you think recession has affected the earnings of the rich and famous, guess again. According to Forbes, paychecks of stars who comrpise this year's Celebrity 100 Power List has grown to $4.7 billion as compared to last year's $4.1 billion. Okay, get ready. Ready? The talk show diva alone has raked in a whopping $315 million from June 1, 2009 to June 1, 2010. Yup. Have you ever heard of a boss who buys each of her staff brand new cars? Don't think so.
Going back, it's not only the size of your bank account that qualifies you on Forbes most powerful list, but fame as well. Like the number of times a celebrity is mentioned on TV, print, radio and social media. These are important factors taken into account, which explains why Beyonce is at no.2 on the list with earnings of $87 million, compared to 'Avatar' director James Cameron who is at third with $210 million.
Pop fashionista Lady Gaga, assumes 4th place with earnings of $62 million in the past 12 months, while golfer Tiger Woods hangs on to 5th spot for a second consecutive year with $105 million, which he earned during the year.
To sum up the top 10, we have Britney Spears ($64 million), U2 ($130 million), Sandra Bullock ($56 million), Johnny Depp ($75 million), and Madonna ($58 million).
Britain's Mr. nasty and ex 'Idol' host Simon Cowell missed top 10 by a hairline with $80 million and settles at no. 11.
