Malacanang announced a while ago that they will give the late King of Pinoy Rap, Francis Magalona, a Presidential Merit award for for his notable contributions in Philippine Arts and Music. For the record, Francis Magalona was the one who started and opened the doors for rap genre in the Philippine music industry.
Some of the famous personalities who paid respect to Francis Magalona's wake a while ago was Former President Corazon Aquino, Susan Roces and Rosa Rosal. They gave their overwhelming support for Pia Arroyo, the wife of the late king of Philippine Rap. "I think Pia is such a courageous woman!" Former Pres. Aquino said.
The wife of the late Fernando Poe Jr. also expressed her support to Francis and to Pia. "Kapag minsan meron siyang mga rap na nababanggit niya si FPJ [Fernando Poe Jr.], at hindi namin un makalilimutan. Hinahangaan namin siya, hindi lamang as a performer, kundi pati sa kanyang pagiging makabayan. Malaking kawalan si Francis sa ating industriya." Susan Roces said.
Comedy king Dolphy also expressed his sentiment after visiting Francis Magalona's wake. He uttered his sadness after hearing the news that Pancho Magalona's son died. Francis Magalona's father was the one who gave the Comedy King the biggest break in his Showbiz career. "Isang malaking kawalan sa amin ito sa industriya dahil napakabata pa eh. Marami pang magagawa eh. Masakit talaga pero we have to move on." Words coming from the Comedy King.
