Rocker Bret Michaels, former frontman of the band Poison, has underwent emergency appendectomy.

Sunday night, 47-year old Michaels, who was also a contestant on 'The Celebrity Apprentice' had extreme stomach pains and had to be rushed to the hospital, skipping a show in San Antonio, Texas. What he assumed was a severe case of flu, turned out to be much more serious and required that he undergo emergency appendectomy.

His rep says that 'Michaels remains in the hospital and is doing well and beginning the recovery process.'

The rocker, who rose to TV reality fame on VH1's Rock of Love is no rookie when it comes to medically related conditions. He's been hospitalized frequently, being a diabetic and gives himself daily insulin shots, besides being struck by previous injuries like a broken nose at the 2009 Tony Awards.
