Johnny Depp must have thought he could pull off a new 'Bond' look for a new movie.

Depp, 46, was in Venice yesterday filming scenes for the new romance film, 'The Tourist.'

The actor, sporting a white tuxedo and black bow tie, seemed to be projecting an 007 but fell short of desired expectations due to his usual scruffy hair, plus a cigarette to match. (Photos here)

The 'Edward Scissorhands' star has somewhat derived his inspiration from Sean Connery's James Bond, who wore a similar outfit in a casino scene for the 1964 film, Goldfinger.

In the movie 'Tourist,' Depp portrays Frank, a heartbroken American tourist who seeks solace in Venice.

Eventually, her would bump into agent Carla Mason, as portrayed by co-star Angelina Jolie, who then uses him to capture a criminal she was had an affair with.

It was the first time the two stars had worked together, yet according to Depp, they instantly 'clicked' on and off set.

"I've never met Angelina before but I found her to be a real treat, I mean a real doll."

"She's a nice woman, serious about what she does and loves her man and loves her kids. I was very impressed," confesses the actor.

'The Tourist' will make its debut in February, 2011.

Come to think of it, why not cast Depp as the new Bond? There's no limits to his remarkable versatility.
