Glee creator Ryan Murphy is outraged over a recent Newsweek article and is calling for a boycott.

Murpy, 43, wants to boycott a Newsweek article which digs on the issue that gay actors aren't convincing playing straight men.

In reference to an open letter released Tuesday, Murphy lashed at the column, calling it a "damaging, needlesly cruel and mind-blowing bigoted piece."

According to writer Ramin Setoodeh (read his article here), Glee guest star Jonathan Groff was labeled as "your average theater queen," and has noted Sean Hayes performance in Broadway's Promises, Promises as 'wooden.' This has caused co-star Kristin Chenoweth to retaliate in defense of her colleagues, calling the article 'homophobic.'

"The article is as misguided as it is shocking and hurtful," continues Murphy in his letter, even more shocked that Setoodeh happens to be gay. He also encouraged others to boycott the magazine until an apology has been issued to the affected parties, as well as gay readers.

Murphy also invited Setoodeh, who happens to be a self-proclaimed Glee fan to the writers room and even the set to be able to witness what the Glee creator calls an inclusive show.

Setoodeh meanwhile, responded to the criticisms, especially one from Chenoweth, saying he believed that the true thesis of his piece was misinterpreted.

"Chenoweth's argument that gay youth need gay role models is true but that's not what i was talking about," he wrote. "I was sharing my honest impression about a play that i saw. If you don't agree with me, I'm more than happy to hear opposing viewpoints."

The Newsweek columnist even hoped to start some kind of dialogue, but a thoughtful one, instead of some target for people twisting his words. He also makes it clear that he pulls no punches when it comes to expressing his views.

"I'm not a conservative writer with an anti-gay agenda. I don't hate gay people or myself."

Kiss and make up, people!
