A classic curtain closer. Isn't victory sweet this time around? But the Lakers camp had to go through the eye of a needle to grab hold of that 16th ring!

Kobe Bryant can finally sleep soundly, even though the star struggled offensively in tonight's game 7, and made up instead on the defensive end plus the crucial rebounds to make life easier for Pau Gasol on the boards.

The huge difference of the night had to be Mr. muscle himself, Ron Artest, who made the big shots including a game-sealing 3 pointer on an assist from Kobe with a minute to play, increasing their lead to 79-73.

Celtics meanwhile, opened up to a good start, with Rasheed Wallace filling in for the injured Perkins. Wallace was a force to reckon with in the paint, as he converted on those shots that would contribute to their 10-point lead early in the first half of the game.

But it was in the second half that Lakers would wake up, thanks to the offensive bursts of both Ron Artest and Pau Gasol, and timely at that. Main man Kobe had an off night shooting a miserable 6 out of 24, yet finishing with 23 points. He had superb back up from his teammates, especially with big man Gasol, who had 19 points and 18 rebounds.

Yet even when Lakers seemed to be wrapping up things, Celtics came up with last moment scares with Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo combining for clutch 3 pointers. Eventually Ron Artest would respond to their threats by firing a massive 3 himself, that decided the fate of the game.

The win also gave legendary coach Phil Jackson his 11th championship ring, tying Bill Rusell as the winningest coach in NBA history.

Congratulations, Kobe and Phil. I'll see if I could make it on your victory party. And ahem, fellas, you better start paying up. You know who you are!
