Butterflies in my tummy! Roger Federer must have been chewing on his racquet after getting a similar 'Roddick-type' scare on his opening match.

We all know that the top seeded Swiss dealt Colombian opposition Alejandro Falla a couple of losses in their previous encounters. But it would be a different story on Wimbledon's big opener, which had Federer hanging on for dear life, despite a close 5-7, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (1), 6-0 victory.

In fact, Falla said after the game, "I had Federer against the ropes."

And against the ropes he was. Imagine letting two sets slip away like butter against the Colombian, and even the whole game itself, by a nerve-wrecking 3 points! Did I also forget to mention a whopping 7 double-faults?

But thanks to a little visit by lady luck, with Falla failing to get a grip on himself, Federer would use that to his advantage and pounce away, surviving the heroics of his hard-nosed opponent. Mind-boggling would be an understatement had the Swiss lost the game!

Congratulations buddy, but no cigar. 60th rank or not, you never know what your foes have up their sleeve. And there sure won't be a next time if you know what I mean..

He must've been thinking about the World Cup all throughout the match!
