Get ready, avid followers! Marvel's new webslinger is set to climb your walls soon! Like 2012 soon. Anyway, who is the fresh recruit behind the mask?
Step in, Andrew Garfield. A 26-year-old newcomer with a dual citizenship (U.S. and the U.K.) and just oozing with immeasurable talent. Tinseltown's next big star in one blink of an eye.
Marc Webb, director of the upcoming Spiderman reboot, couldn't agree with me more, describing the actor as having a rare combination of intelligence, wit, and humanity. Nope, he's certainly no Brandon Routh, who shot to fame with DC's 'Superman Returns' and vanished into oblivion. No offense, Brandon.
Let's browse through those film credits up his sleeve. Garfield has previously appeared in 2009's 'The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnasuss as well as 2007 films 'Lion for Lambs' and 'Boy A,' which he won himself the prestigious BAFTA for best actor in 2008. Not to mention his appearances in radio, theater and television. His TV credits include 'Sugar Rush' and 'Swinging' in 2005, and 2009's 'Red Tiding,' just to give you a few.
The actor will be showcasing more of his acting prowess in the upcoming British sci-fi thriller 'Never Let me Go' as well as 'The Social Network' which centers on the founders of Facebook, which he co-stars with Justin Timberlake, Jesse Eisenberg and Brenda Song.
And being a gymnast in his earlier years, Garfield will find it a breeze conforming to the intense physical demands required for a Spidey role. He's also noticeably tall for the Marvel webcrawler, who's usually pictured as being puny. Didn't mean anything there, Tobey.
So I don't see any reason for this mega project not to push through. Sam Raimi, you've had your days! And if it's not to much to ask, can I request for just a slight revamp in the costume, Marc?
