Apple tries to woo back customers with free iPhone 4 cases!

Sorry comes in attractive packages.

Well at least in the case of the recent iPhone 4 antenna bridging issue, which cause quite a stir.

During Friday's press conference, Apple CEO Steve Jobs was obviously trying his darnest to win back customer loyalty by offering Free iPhone 4 cases, plus a refund for those who already paid $30 for a Bumper case, for any iPhone 4 purchase though September 30. Tempting.

And more tempting offers include Apple sending you a free case if you have yet to suscribe for one, minus the need for signing any petition. However, it its still unconfirmed as to what cases will be available, because case production can't keep up with sizzling sales of iPhone.

And here's another catch, if you've already purchased a Bumper case, you'll need to apply for a refund on the Apple website, and present your proof of purchase. And even if you paid thrice the retail value for one on eBay, only Bumper purchases made in their stores of Apple.com can be refunded.

And the issue is not entirely new as to how an iPhone is held. The HTC Droid Eris and Blackberry 9700 are just some of the few phones also affected, which is one primary reason Apple didn't consider releasing their latest smartphone.

Stats show that only 1.7 percent of the devices were returned, a far cry than the 6 percent of iPhone 3GS that were sent back.

So, is Steve Jobs package enough to do the trick?
