I suppose we can pretty much say that Lady GaGa is Madonna circa-2000's, except that a scandal by GaGa has now been subdued due to the fact that Madonna has infused in us some sort of immunity from further scandals. In other words, when Britney or GaGa does it, we just go, "Eh. Seen that."

Such is the case when GaGa took her tour to St. Louis. While there, she discovered that there are apparently still some sectors out there whose way of thinking stayed with Madonna circa-1980's.
It was there that the anti-gay church Westboro Baptist Church picketed the rock star's St. Louis leg of her Monster Ball tour on Saturday night.
The church is designated a hate group by both the Anti-Defamation League and the Southern Poverty Law Center. It was founded by Fred Phelps, 80, in the 1950s.
Gaga has shown support for gay rights. She spoke to CNN's Larry King about this, proclaiming her new single 'Alejandro' "is a celebration of my love and appreciation for the gay community. My admiration of their bravery and their love for one another. Their courage in their relationships."
To which the anti-gay church protested with signs that read "God Hates Lady GaGa."
Gaga then pleaded with fans to ignore the protesters. However, on Sunday, Lady Gaga claimed victory Sunday. She tweeted "Tonight love and hate met in St. Louis... And love outnumbered the hate, in poetic thousands."
She later added, "Hate left. But love stayed. + Together, we sang," she added.
While at the Scottrade Center, GaGa told fans, "Some people in this world are addicted to hate and they preach messages of decisiveness. But here at the monsterball you are free and we preach love and we preach truth. And we preach unity and togetherness."
Lady GaGa should brace herself come Tuesday night. Just like a cockroach that refuses to die, hate will be following her on her Oklahoma City concert. Now this is gonna be juicy.
