Bret Michaels isn't out of the woods yet but shows signs of progress.
"He's doing good," according to sister Michelle Sychak of the ex rocker's condition during an interview on 'Todd N Tyler Radio Empire' morning radio show on Wednesday.
Michaels continues to be carefully monitored in the intensive care unit of some unnamed clinic. Earlier reports had revealed that the former Poison frontman had a buildup of blood at the base of his brain, resulting in slow or slurred speech.
Speculations arose that the injury was somehow caused by a stage accident at the 2009 Tony Awards when Michaels was hit by a falling curtain, although his sibling says that doctors may never know the cause of the rupture.
Michelle added that 47-year old Michaels will gradually improve when the blood dissolves surrounding the brain, as he is subject to further testing and rehabilitation.
"Its a painful recovery which could take weeks or months," she disclosed.
Michaels road manager, Janna Elias was also optimistic about the rocker's condition, in which she posted a note on his website.
"Provided there are no further complications or setbacks, Michaels could be back out on the road in time for a May 26 date in Forth Smith, Arkansas. I think good news is around the corner," she said.
Brett's been through it before and he'll come out on top.
