Latin Oscar winners Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem tie the knot in a cherished ceremony in the Bahamas earlier this month, according to the actress' publicist.


Cruz, 36, and Bardem, 41, wed early this July at a friend's house in the Bahamas in a small ceremony comprised of family members. Penelope sported a dress designed by John Galiano, her longtime friend.


The star couple crossed paths when they co-starred in Bigas Luna's 1992 film, 'Jamon, Jamon, where they play vigorous teens.

They reunited in 2008 in Woody Allen's 'Vicky Cristina Bareclona,' in which the actress bagged best supporting actress at the Academy Awards.


On the other hand, her newly announced hubby was nominated for an Oscar in 'Before Night Falls' in 2000, and after that, won himself an Academy Award in 2007 for his role in "No Country for Old Men."


Even though the pair have been mum about their relationship for years, Bardem was unable to hold it back when he won best actor at the Cannes in May for superb performance in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's masterpiece, "Biutiful."


Revealed the Spanish actor during that special moment, "I share the joy of this prize with my friend, my companion, my love, Penelope Cruz. I owe you so much, and I love you very much." Cruz was teary eyed from the speech.
